New Placement...

So...
The ex wife.

She could not pay the gas bill,
so the gas got turned off.
Leaving her,
AND OUR GIRLS,
with no heat or hot water.

THEN,

She leaves and goes to LA for
a couple of days,
leaving the girls at their apartment,
without ANY adult supervision.

She did not notify ANYONE that she
was leaving.

I found out when I woke up one morning,
from a long night before,
with messages on my phone from their school.

Trinity was sick,
it was noon by the time I got a hold of the office,
she had been in there since 9am.

I rushed down and picked her up
and brought her back home with me.

She told me that her mom was in LA with her boyfriend,
and that Brittany (the oldest, age 12)
was left in charge.

FACT: IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AGE 12 IS THE LEGAL AGE TO STAY HOME ALONE, IT ISNT UNTIL FIFTEEN THAT A CHILD IS ALLOWED TO BE LEFT IN CHARGE OF OTHER CHILDREN (BABYSITTING), BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED A JOB. THE LEGAL EMPLOYMENT AGE IS 15.

The ex wife left a 12 year old girl in charge of:
A 10 year old girl,
8 year old girl,
and 5 year old girl.
an apartment.
cooking with no gas.

&&
At an apartment
where her abusive ex has been known to come
and kick in the door being violent.

Before we could do anything We found out
that Alexis (second oldest, 10)
reported her mother to the office.

Child Services then investigated
and the kids were taken away and put with their
grandmother (ex wifes mother).

For the record we are still unable to get custody
because the ex wife took his custody and visitations
away while he was in jail about 6 years ago.
We are currently working with the grandma and
the courts to get everything back.

This is a great thing.

Mothers Day 2010

Mothers Day 2010,
was unlike anything I could
have ever hoped for.

I got to pick up the girls that morning,
and spend the entire day with them...
ON MOTHERS DAY.

The ex wife did not want them,
instead she had plans with friends.

I took them over to my moms house
where we got to eat lunch.
Chicken and salads. mmmmm.

My girls looked so cute lined up
on my mothers couch,
it really touched me.

Everyone has been telling me since I
got with Joseph that THEY are lucky to have me,
but on Mothers Day this year,
I realized how lucky I AM to have them.

Their laughs and giggles completely
made my entire mothers day.

Of course my mother and grandma spoiled them
with candy and goodies. :)

It was a really terrific day.
The only thing that could have made it better,
would have been if Joseph didnt have to work,
and could have been there with us...

Either way,
Mothers Day was amazing.
&&
I realized exactly HOW DEEP
my love for them is,
and I wouldnt have it any other way.

Dear Girls:

I am your step mother, your fathers wife. If that is all I ever am to you, that is fine. You have a mother and I would never try and take her place, But you should know, that you are my daughters now too, you are my reasons for waking up in the morning and without you in my life, it would empty. Your smiles make my day, your hugs and kisses are beyond anything ive ever felt. My love for you runs forever, and I will always be here for you. I love your father, and I love you.

Always,

Your Proud Step Mother

Updating...

It has been quite a while since I have been on,
about a month or so and SO much has happened.
I have experienced some really bad lows,
and enjoyed some of the best moments.
I am now finding myself with a little time today
to be able to update my blog, so bare with me please...
It is going to come in sections, that way I can separate
things by occurance. I am hoping to be able to be on
here more from now on, at least once a week.

In short,
I am still in a loving relationship with Joseph,
and the girls are still my entire world.
I am the PROUDEST step mom,
and nobody can tell me different.

Thank you,

Megan

Step Parent

For those of you who dont know,
I am a writer, working on getting published.
I write short stories, self help, spiritual,
and poetry writings.

When the girls were placed in their grandmothers
custody, there was a three week waiting period
before we were able to see them again.
This was THE hardest thing that I have ever
gone through as their step mom.
Not knowing how things were going,
or how they were feeling,
being unable to hug them or play with them,
and having to completely trust someone
who I had never met, their grandmother or not,
it was a really difficult time,
when joseph and I feld alone
and helpless as parents,
this is a little something i wrote at the time
to describe how i felt.

By Megan E Johnson
Dont you know I feel the pain,
Im not the mother but it feels the same,
no word, no call, no communication
its not just your kids this world is raising
time and time we try and try
night after night I cry and cry
i love them as if they were my own,
you want me to leave, i refuse, i wont.
they love me, they need me, they want me too,
in the end that doesnt mean they dont love you.
Each day i miss them more and more
every day I pray till my tounge is sore
to bring them back into our lives,
i am a mother too, their fathers wife.
